On February 5, 2018, the Office of Administrative Law approved the amendment of Title 27, California Code of Regulations, section 25705, No Significant Risk Level (NSRL) for the chemical malathion. The regulation will be effective on April 1, 2018. This regulation establishes a No Significant Risk Level of 180 micrograms per day for malathion for purposes of Proposition 65.

Proposition 65 became law in November 1986, when it was approved by the voters in California. The official name of Proposition 65 is the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
